2019 Allied Traction Elevators (former Dover) at Sheraton Bucks County Hotel - Langhorne, PA
Переглядів 594 години тому
Featuring @dea41396returns These are former Dover traction elevators, originally installed in 1986. They received a full modernization by Allied in 2019. While these are pretty generic, they do run nicely.

While this appears to be a standard 80s era Series 1, I strongly suspect the controller has been substantially modified, as it doesn't really behave like your typical 80s Series 1.

There are a lot of Eastern elevators in this area, but this is the first one I've found that's original from when it was installed. These are fairly janky, as a lot of relay-controlled elevators from this era are, but I liked these. I suspect it won't be too long before we see these get modernized.

Featuring @dea41396returns This is a very early Schindler 3300 install. It runs OK, although this style of cab is aging pretty poorly in my opinion.

This is a fairly standard early Series 1. It's in pretty good shape, and it runs about as well as any Otis hydraulic elevator from this period.
Pristine 1983 Dover Hydraulic Elevator at 1939 NJ 70 Cherry Hill, NJ

This is a very nice Dover Classic that seems to be mostly original from 1983. Whoever manages this building clearly cares about this elevator, as it's clearly been cared for very well over the past 40 years.
2012 KONE MRL Traction Elevator at Quaker Bridge Mall - Lawrenceville, NJ
Переглядів 11814 днів тому
Featuring @dea41396returns This is a pretty standard low-rise KONE MRL. While, in my opinion, it's completely inadequate for being the only mall elevator, it does run decently. There was no mall elevator prior to this being installed.
1994 Security/Dover Hydraulic Elevator at 1818 Old Cuthbert Rd - Cherry Hill, NJ
Переглядів 10214 днів тому
This is a fairly standard mid-90s Dover Impulse in a fairly run-down office building. While this elevator probably isn't cared for the best, it still runs pretty decently.

These are pretty nice elevators. Aside from receiving a new cab and new fixtures, I suspect these are mostly original under the hood.

Score: 3/5 (Acceptable) This property certainly isn’t without its problems- but it gets the job done. Maintenance and cleanliness weren’t flawless, and the hotel’s vibe is hurt by it being in a poor area (and drawing a fairly rough crowd as a result)- but we found the staff to be nice. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I got a good deal (as we did this time).
1975 Dover Hydraulic Elevator at JCPenney - Quaker Bridge Mall - Lawrenceville, NJ
Переглядів 11121 день тому
Featuring @dea41396returns This is a pretty nice Dover with a standard JCPenney slap-on mod, which was probably done in the 90s or early 2000s for ADA compliance. I would guess this is mostly original other than new fixtures and a new cab.

Modernized 1985 Westinghouse Hydraulic Elevator at (1763 NJ 70) - Cherry Hill, NJ
Переглядів 14728 днів тому
I would guess this was fully modernized about 5 years ago- and whoever did the mod did a pretty nice job. NJ records isn't helpful with regards to who made this originally or who did the mod- but there is what appears to be evidence of a former lunar key hole on the exterior door, which tells me this was likely a Westinghouse.

You're right, it hasn't been well taken care of over the years, but it's still a good elevator. @SchindlerHaughton, the elevator could use a little TLC tho.

Very cool elevators, and i recognize the building, this is located across the street from Oxford Valley Mall. It's a shame these used to be Dovers, but Allied did a great job on it. @SchindlerHaughton

That is probably some of the cleanest early Series 1 fixtures I think I've ever seen, pretty much mint! Looks better than a lot of elevators that aren't 35 years old haha I'm not sure if the controller was replaced, but it does seem to have a pretty notable delay between pressing the button and registering the call. It otherwise seems to perform pretty close to an 80s Otis controller though, so it's pretty hard to tell at least through the video. I think the controller these used was only made obsolete in 2022 so it may have been replaced, but it would be weird and very recent if it was.

I luv older Otis series 1 elevators, i've been on an actual older series 1 otis elevator once before, it was in Conneticut at Danbury fair mall, actually twice, the glass elevator at the same mall was also one before it got a slap on by Schindler, cool elevator and great vid. @SchindlerHaughton

Even tho this thing was innovated, it still acts like the Dover it was, well it still is a Dover, it just got innovated, someone else said this was a Montgomery, and i OG thought it was a Haughton but i found out later that it was a Dover, and surprisingly, this is actually and Olidraulic i think.

My local mall only has one main passenger elevator as well, and it's a Dover hydro from 1979 with Traditional fixtures. It's extremely slow, has a lot of door issues (primarily being extremely slow as well), but since May, it has finally begun a modernization. Still have yet to find out who's modding it. As of now, it's completely out of service, meaning people are having to walk all the way across to use one of the three department stores' elevators.

Eight years after this video was made, Samanea had taken control of the mall. In light of the covid-19 pandemic the owner’s plans to reestablish retail stores on the second floor was cancelled in favor of developing sports facilities in those spaces. About a little less than half of the south side of the second floor would become a sports training facility with the space where Saks Off 5th sat on becoming an indoor trampoline park. In late 2023 the food court was closed off to the public to make room for a simulator attraction opening in 2025. Despite this and the opening of an Asian supermarket in circuit city’s space in 2022, the second floors west wing remains vacant.

I believe all the new ones that were installed in the renovation are 5500s including the ones in the terminals, excluding the one in the new area of Terminal A which is a Minnesota hydro. Weirdly the ones past security are vandal resistant, but the ones in the non-secure area are not. Really think they should have swapped that since these get A LOT more use and often have broken buttons lol Don't know why they went with a Minnesota in terminal A though, as far as I know its the only Minnesota in the Charlotte area besides the huge ones in Ikea.

    • @SchindlerHaughton
      @SchindlerHaughton Місяць тому

The elevators in the first phase of the A expansion were almost certainly bid out separately from this. I would guess whoever was in charge of awarding that contract wanted non-proprietary equipment, and possibly no MRL (both provisions are common in government contracts). Worth noting that Schindler did the install. Beats me as to why these weren’t made vandal resistant.

Hey! Caught my eye with this since I didn’t think Series 1 was made that early. I found the video you’re probably talking about (Dominion Square) and left you a comment. That elevator is probably from 1986. While Loopnet is saying the building was built in 1980, their leasing agent is saying 1986. Historic Aerials is an excellent source, especially when there’s conflicting info like that. In this case, there’s an aerial image from 1982, and the building in question isn’t there at the time of the image. From there, we can conclude that the Loopnet date is wrong. 1986 is believable, so I’d go with the leasing agent on that one

We just checked in tonight 6/1/2024 1230am. I knew it was going to be bad just by noticing no cars in the parking lot. Then we check in and it’s just not that clean. But then we got into elevator…no railings, looks like they have been reaped off, mold smell everywhere where, opened the door to room, stench of smoke. Closed door and walked out. Walked to hotel lobby and told them peace out and rolled our suitcases to embassy suite. Just don’t stay here. I think it was an abandoned hotel that has fallen out of repairs and somebody somewhere has convinced Hyatt to switch names to Sky Suite and have tried to just make it work. Trust me when I say do not stay there. Go to trip advisor and look it up and read comments there too.

They’re all owned and operated by independent franchisees, so I’d think it depends on who the franchisee is
